We all know the Mantra and the chanting of Mantra. This mantra Japa was a concept of Vedic Hindu sages which incorporates mantras as main form of worship whose ultimate end is Moksha or Liberation. It is also called transcendental chant. So mantra is a sound, syllable word or group of words capable of creating spiritual transformation. They are also syllables considered to be "thought form" representing cosmic power which exert their influence by means of sound vibrations. Each word when spoken produces corresponding effect according to its meaning and vibrations. Now the words contained in the mantra have been arranged in such a way that the vibrations generated from chanting of the mantra brings meditative state of mind which facilitates direct communication with the Divine. Two syllables of the mantra "man" meaning mind and "tra" ( liberation) liberates the mind from the fear and sorrows bringing about one experience what is called Chidanand or Holy Bliss
Now the mantra japa is a repetition of mantra over and over again usually in the cycle of auspicious numbers, the most popular being 108. (Significance of 108 beads of Mala will be explained in next news letter). As per yoga the power of mantra is enhanced by repetition of mantra. In the early stage of Japa it is an exercise in concentration and meditation but with continued practice a stage is reached in which the process continues effortlessly and automatically and finally turns into a powerful tool which wards off all negative elements from the body.
definitions of words and this science is called "Naad" , the secrets hidden in the sound. The words and the corresponding sound that generates from these words are the strongest powers in the cosmos.
Here the words for the Mantra are chosen for scientific reasons that go far beyond pure definitions of words and this science is called "Naad" , the secrets hidden in the sound. The words and the corresponding sound that generates from these words are the strongest powers in the cosmos.
Our learned sages have devised these mantras in their deep meditation. They started reciting these vibrant typical sounds that made the tongue hit the vital points of upper portion of the mouth in certain homogeneous combinations which stimulates brain in such a way as to bring the mind into meditative state or in ecstasy or what is called holy bliss. This repetitive recitation actually changes the chemical balance of the brain allowing a more relaxed peace of mind.
Sometimes we chant all day "I am very tired" ,"I can't work", "This work is very difficult for me" and many more such mantras which become part of our life. These mantras not only drains out all energy from our body but also drags us in deep state of depression. We act on what we say, what we think what we live.
On sharp contrast if we chant mantras like Om Namah Shivay (ॐ नमः शिवाय), Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevay ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय or any such mantra which produces positive vibrations and will ultimately lead us to happiness and prosperity.
As I said earlier all mantras start with Om ॐ. It is the powerful and significant one syllable incantation called pranav. Without ॐ no sacred chanting has any power or life.
