In Dec1921, Chandra Shekhar (then a 15-year old student) joined the Non-Cooperation Movement that Gandhi had launched.
He was arrested and produced before a magistrate. On being asked, he gave his name as 'Azad', father's name as 'Swatantra' (independent) and residence as 'Jail'. Not many 15 year old can muster the courage to speak like this in a court. But such are the bravehearts who fight for our nation.
His favourite verse was: "Dushman ki goliyon ka hum samna karenge, Azad hi rahein hain, azad hi rahenge!"
