Hindu festival, Diwali (Deepavali) is the victory of light against dark. Diwali is one of the biggest festivals. Ancient farmers celebrated the festival of Diwali because they believes that grains were the blessing of Lord and also for brightening the dark night. Over time, some traditions were added while some were removed, like fireworks in Diwali, colorful Rangoli, Lakshmi-Laxmi poojan, Chopda poojan, donating grains, helping poor people and also having parties, community together etc.
Oct, 29, 2009, Thursday Santokpura Patidar Samaj had sponsored the Diwali Party and continued the tradtion of Charotar Chaud Gaam Patidar samaj of USA at the Indian Culture Society, Hindu Temple & Mahatma Gandhi Center, Edition, New Jersey, USA.
Diwali party initiated with Slock being sung by Dhiren Patel and the cermeony was innougrated with lighting up Dipavali (Diva Pragatosav) by Shri Bhagubhai Bhailalbhai Patel, Jashvantbhai Dhulabhai Patel, Ramjibhai Patel, Kanubhai Ambalal Patel and Kantibhai Bhailalbhai Patel.
Ramjibhai gave a speech and also conveyed the message on behalf of Chaud Gaam Patidar Samaj India. Kantaben Patel of Santokpura (currenly in New Jersey, USA) announced the giving of a silver coin in order to dedicate her monther Revaben Ishwarbhai Patel and aunty Kamuben Bhailalbhai Patel to all in attendance of the Diwali Party.
Manibhai Ravjibhai Patel, as usual the prime leader of our society, has given inspiration through a motivational speech about facing new year samvat 2066. Last but not least of course he also talk about our community website 14gaam.com
Celebration reach to their excitement when Garba were played. Garba brings fun, freshness and keeps our culture alive, even in America (foreign country).
The event became more tasty with Gujarati appetezer and delicious Dinner Vara ni Dal, Rice, unbeatable taste of egg plants (Brinjal) and potatos curries (Ringan Batak nu saak), Puri and Kachori.
Everyone loves to attend for the Gujarati mouthwatering foods and Diwali functions. The event was flooded with about 325 to 350 Patidars. The credit for making this event successful in such a short period of time goes to Sunil, Mukesh, Dhiren and Harshad Patel. While other patidars of 14Gaam helped them and proved to be united.
